Subject: Road Trip Mindlessness
Hello,
Just got back from the birthday event in LA. Zazen was perfect as always. This morning a group of us had a great meditation at Point Dume and then two of us and our scottie headed back to SF. Rather then talk about the event I think that I'll share the fun that we had on the trip home. :)

The trip back started normally enough. All of the hills in Southern California are unusually green this year due to the heavy rains and the flowers are in bloom so the drive was beautiful. About an hour out of town we started getting hungry. I saw a McDonalds and thought about hamburger. Looking into the back seat I noticed that Scottie had raised his head and was looking at me intently.

"Meat?" Scotties expression said it all.

"Looks like he's ready for lunch too. He'll want a hamburger, hold the secret sauce, pickels and bun......And just toss it into the car."

At the mention of flying meat Scottie came into the front to inspect. We ended up at Subway with roast beef and vegetarian sandwiches. Scottie got half my roast beef, the car got gas, the little birds in the parking lot got some of our bread and the hawk that came looking for the little birds went away hungry. With everyone tanked up we headed back to the road. There must have been something in our ice teas because at that point, everything got funny. :o)

To be continued........
