No matter what Rama said, I never gave away my inherent right to do whatever the fuck I wanted to do.
While I thought the best path toward enlightenment was obedience to the rules ("etiquette" was the word used but probably incorrectly) and instructions of my teacher--I followed them.
When I thought the best path toward enlightenment was disobedience to the rules and instructions of my teacher -- I follwed that path.
When I went beyond caring about either obedience or disobedience I forgot the entire topic until recently when I read a really interesting thread about what a ne'er do well I am. I liked that thread, and yes I am a ne'er do well and happily so.
So, I guess there is no real answer to the question poised in this thread. And, who is asking the question anyway, why does it matter, and how many people still want Rama to be their daddy? There probably aren't any satisfying answers to those questions either.
