Le Café au centre du Monde |
So, since nobody else is writing much about the pursuit of enlightenment and the weird places it's taking them these days, I will. :-)
I'm getting ready for a Road Trip. This one is to Paris. I'm moving there for a while, and am having just a BALL getting ready for it.
I bought a new laptop, on which I have recorded all or parts of about 400 of my favorite albums. It has wireless. Cafés in Paris have wireless. UT can sit in a café in Paris and listen to his favorite tunes and be connected highspeed to the Net and write. UT is about to piss himself with anticipation. :-)
The title of the post? Well, across from Notre Dame there is a café that looks out onto the square in front of it, in which is set a stone that marks the center of France. All measurements of distance in France were (and still are, for sentimental reasons) taken from that stone. And given the basic humility with which the French view themselves and their place in the universe :-), it isn't stretching things too much to call that stone the center of the world. So it strikes me that a café overlooking le centre du monde might just be a kickin' place to sit and write some stories about what it's like to be a weird old hippie and spiritual seeker in that world.
I also bought a new digital camera (UT's been a spendin' fool!). And I'm taking lessons from a GoLive Guru so that when I get there I can try to put up some kind of blog, to share stories and photos from the land of the Gene Pool Of The Gods. Ain't this digital age a kick in the ass? Kaliyuga really rocks sometimes. :-)
