Subject: The Tao of Home Ownership
This has come up on a couple of threads, so I thought that I would get us started in that direction. When many of us were students, we would share how we accomplished something to help inspire each other. I have a foothold on this one, so I will throw my two cents in, and invite those who own, and those who want to own, in this discussion.

I am a homeowner in a lovely neighborhood. Actually it is a condo, but a spacious one with a pretty view. Ultimately, it was MUCH easier than I thought that it would be. However, there are a number of preliminary steps that I took that I will address below.

I probably anticipated impossible difficulties because I had a "fear" of home ownership; I feared that it would tie me down in some way. I even mentioned this to Rama once, and he said, "Well, you can sell it and have them send you the money in the mail". I knew that it was an unreasonable fear, but it must have been left over from my "one robe, one bowl" lives. However, after so many years of paying rent and not really getting any investment from it - the time had come.

I couldn't be happier that I took the plunge. It has paid off in ways that I wouldn't have previously imagined.

So, to avoid this being a super long post - I will create mini-posts below...
