Before enlightenment, chop wood and carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood and carry water. Assuming both statements are true, does that mean there is no difference?
Not at all. The enlightened being might have a frog in his bucket.
Naaaaah. That's not what I wanted to say. What I wanted to say is that, even though enlightenment is always present, there is this little thing called realization of enlightenment. Enlightenment can't be intellectualized; it can only be experienced. Until realization, enlightenment is only a theoretical omnipresent reality. After realization, it's an extremely real, experiential omnipresent reality.
Before realization, chop wood and carry water and a buncha theories about the existence or non-existence of enlightenment. After realization, chop wood and carry water and simultaneously have a direct experience of the existence of enlightenment. Big difference.
But you still might have a frog in your bucket. I don't think there's anything wrong with hoping it croaks before you do. :-)
