Leave 'em laughing |
Today I've been thinking a bit about a guy I knew once, name of Farrell. Farrell was a prematurely-balding hippie, even in college. He drove a VW Microbus and used to go on Road Trips with it. Anyway, Farrell had a personal philosophy that was wise beyond his years. It was, "Leave 'em laughing." He took it seriously, which if you think about it is pretty funny in itself. He checked out books of jokes and puns and one-liners from the library and memorized them, so that he always had a good line at hand whenever he had to say goodbye to someone. And he was a great joke teller, so it always worked. The idea of all of this was that if he turned the corner and got hit by a bus, the last memory everyone in his life would have of him is that he left them laughing. Cool philosophy, eh?
