Rama himself said it ... If you focus on Enlightenment 40% of the time, you will go 40% of the way there. If you focus 60% of your time you will go 60% of the way there. I don't think many of us are interested enough to focus 100% of our attention, all of the time, on Enlightenment. To have a few "Cool" moments and some really great "Spiritual Experiences" is enough. I only know one person whose unbending intent is on Enlightenment. Savakalpa (spellling?)Samadhi everyday, yep. Enlightened States of Mind? most of the time. Will he claim 'Enlightenment"? Nope. Why? Because people already say "Who do you think you are? Your not Rama!" Rama's student find it hard to accept that one of their peers might have reached a level of Enlightenment, because they haven't. Rama talked of this...people will find excuses not to be Enlightened. They didn't attend the right school, they don't eat the right breakfast cereal, etc. He said all it takes is hard work and dedication and work with an Enlightened teacher near the time when Enlightenment becomes a possibility.
Is a lineage important? Maybe to some, in the first attention. But, in the third attention, who's there to care?
Just some meanimgless thoughts in passing.
Namaste~
