Question for firebird (or anyone else) |
You keep coming up with these magnificently appropriate quotes from Padmasambhava and others, so I thought I'd see if you have one for one of the oldest and most-asked questions:
Do the sidhi powers have anything to do with enlightenment?
There is a lot of literature about enlightenment, and almost as much about 'miracles' and those who seem to have mastered these powers. And then there is a third category that seems to endlessly debate whether the two have anything whatsoever to do with each other.
Most of the stuff I have read suggests no relation. Enlightenment is enlightenment. Sidhis are sidhis. End of story. You can have enlightened beings who can perform the sidhis and enlightened beings who cannot. Both ancient and modern history is strewn with unenlightened beings who could perform sidhis, so being able to do so is no measure of enlightenment.
I remember Rama swinging both ways on this question. Got any great quotes to shed some light on the subject? |
