That's all any of us can do, Noah. Teachers point to wonders, saying, "Hey! Ain't that groovy?!" But it's up for us to really dig the experience and experience its wonder for ourselves and reach for more of it. The writings of inspired teachers and students who became inspired themselves are merely the Journals of that reaching.
I don't think there is any way you are "supposed to be," other than who you are, and I wouldn't worry about the whole process too much. It kinda takes care of itself. If there is something within you that searches for more -- even when you don't know what 'more' is, even when you don't *want* to search for more –- then more will present itself. And love is the mechanism by which it is summoned.
