Re: Puffy Clouds and Pinetrees in Heaven |
What a fun post! I haven't even made it to Europe yet (still working on that one), but your posts make it come alive. Thanks for sharing your bit o'heaven with us today.
Just to return the favor - I'll share a little bit of mine with you.
I went hiking by me own self yesterday with water, grapes, peanut butter and crackers and determination. I've never been a big hiking geek, but I'm trying to train for a walking event - and thought this would be a good way to get into shape.
We have had a tough winter, so the spring brought everyone out to play in the eighty degree weather. Even though there are mountain lion warning signs, I'm not too concerned - there are just enough people on the trail to keep the cats away - but not so many people that I feel pushed. The hike starts out with a couple of killer views of the green valley (now all that snow seems worthwhile) and the mountains shining in the distance. A nice couple asks me to take their picture as they kiss in front of the view.
As I rose higher on the mountainside, I could peek through the trees and watch the puffy clouds drift across the sky. Their movement was so mesmerizing that it felt like I was moving with them. It gave me the strange feelings of vertigo and excitement. In sections of the hike, I could only see the trees (and the mountain bicyclers roaring by) but the scent of the pinetrees was almost intoxicating.
By the time I got to the top, there was a bench overlooking the hills and valley below. In the quiet of the forest, I felt grateful to experience the extraordinary beauty - and marveled at the gorgeous world we live in. |
