Subject: Spiritual Daffynitions

Enlightenment. The normal state of life, something that every human being on the planet lives on a daily basis, without realizing it.

Enlightened Teacher. A normal human being who has realized what most of the people around him or her have not. What they *do* with that realization, and how ordinary or how special they claim to be as a result of simply realizing what has always already been present -- for them and for everyone they interact with -- seems to shape how history will regard them *as* an enlightened teacher.

Spiritual Practice. The belief that there is somewhere one has to "go" or something one has to "do" to realize the always-already-present nature of their own enlightenment.

Evangelism. The belief in some that their particular spiritual practice -- the "going" and the "doing" that they consider necessary to realize their always-already-present enlightenment -- is important enough that they must convince others to "go" the same route and "do" what they do. Synonym: self importance.

Integrity. Practicing evangelism and being up front about it.

Illusion. Practicing evangelism and feeling that one has to hide it.

Meditation. A good thing. A mechanism for realizing that which should have been obvious from the start, one's always-already-present nature as enlightenment, and as silence.

Silence. Another good thing, far more productive than all the "going" and "doing," and far more eloquent.

:-)
