I think that is a good way of putting it: Death of the illusion of the self as real.
But it's interesting that no matter what words we use to describe "Enlightenment" we are never quite hitting it on the mark because no matter what words we use there is always an implied duality to the phrase. At first I thought the phrase above removed the duality because there is no longer a self, but the fact that there is a death of anything implies that there was something living that is dying which in the true reality never had existence to begin with...we just think it did from this perspective. But I still think it is a pretty damn close phrase to describe "Enlightenment". |
