There's some truth in this. One slight correction -- Rama said that this story was the best of the ones *I* had submitted so far; he later dumped this story and included another one I had written, in the last chapter.
You're correct that I don't value "knowing." I've had the things I "know" blown away so many times that I treat them all like leaves in the wind. And you're correct that I walk my path with a sense of near-constant joy and exhilAration. I am *not* one of thosE First Noble Truth kinda guys. I think the Buddha was misquoted. Life is suffering only if suffering is what you focus on. Buddha's message wasn't in the First Noble Truth, but in the Third.
I'm happy for you that your path enables you to cycle through the different illusions about who 'me' is. Mine does, too. There's a different 'me' pretty much every day, wherever the Road takes me. What's to hold onto?
The difference seems to be that I don't need a teacher to do this. I visit teachers from time to time to meet them and see how they do their thing, but the Road is my teacher. It offers me all the teachings I need.
I brought up the issue of the criteria one uses to declare someone enlightened because a lifetime of study has convinced me that most people who throw the term 'enlightened' around don't really HAVE any. The way it works for them is, "I have choseN to study enlightenment from this person, therefore they are enlightened." The cart is pulling the horse.
I dispense with both the cart and the horse and just walk down the Road. And just as Rama said "the bridge is flowing but the river is not," for me the scenery stays the same but *I* do not.
