Subject: Selfless Giving is not so selfless
That's it...I have given up on 'giving.' Oh sure, they all tell you that selfless giving is the thing to do, but it's no fun playing ball by yourself. I mean, if you keep hitting the ball and no one sends it back, it can be a real bummer. Besides, has anyone thought about the 'Receiver?' Some people either can't handle being given a gift nor do they want it. When you decide to do something nice or give a gift to someone, have you considered if they really want it??? Well... maybe they don't! Maybe they don't want to be reminded of something they are incapable of doing themselves. So, then, who are we to remind them of what they are lacking???

So, the next time you find yourself in a 'giving' mode, rreeaally consider the other person and try to feel out if that is what they want. I'm excluding Homeless people, who, naturally are out and out and in dire need of help, but I am mostly speaking of friends and family members who may not want to partake of the 'holiday spirit' and by our giving them gifts and such, we are actually not 'giving,' but actually 'taking.' Taking in the sense that we have to take away their comfort zone and make them feel like they are obligated to reciprocate our gift-giving. So, just maybe, all this giving is not so selfless after all...
