Healing
Perspective From Mooshke the Cat |
But since they don't, I am forced to answer this question from the point of view of a beginner. I managed to teach my human a thing or two about healing last summer. My human wanted to take me to the vet for the treatment of a very mild ailment which was going to get better on its own. This required the completely ridiculous step of performing a little bit of exploratory surgery to establish what should have been completely obvious--that I was really not sick at all and should have just been allowed to carry on in my own healthy ways. So my human was wondering how many stitches I would need from this exploratory surgery as I was about to get packed off to the vet. I preempted his thoughts with a swiftly delivered (and fairly deep by feline standards) scratch to his hand and forearm. Suddenly my human was no longer wondering how many stitches I would need, but was more concerned with how many stitches he would need. When we finally got to the vet, it was a barrel of laughs to watch the vet shaking my human's hand very gingerly to avoid the wound which I had just inflicted. After the exploratory surgery, it was indeed determined that nothing was wrong, and I am pleased to say that I have no permanent scars from the surgery, even on my belly where my fur is rather thin. I regret to say I cannot say the same for my human's forearm. So the moral of the story is: if it ain't broke, don't fix it! ps--the scar on my human's forearm is only marginally visible--just a little reminder to him of the superior feline knowledge of healing.
