Refinement

A lot of what Rama taught about was refinement ... We wear good quality clothes because they are an aspect of that. They don't have to be expensive clothes, but they should be well made. Clothing is also a component of our caretaker personalities. People frequently evaluate each other on very superficial levels. So people will look at your clothes and categorize you based on them. By wearing good quality clothes you will get more respect from most people. So when we bought jeans he recommended that we should buy the best jeans available, because even when dressing casual you want to create a good impression. Do you all see where I am going with this? The lesson here is not really about glamour or intuition. The clothing that we wear can become a part of our intent. If we are intending to be successful then we should dress the part. Enlightened beings are very refined. Rama surrounded himself with very refined things. Including the clothes that he wore. His clothing was part of his impeccability. The subjects such as this, that Rama tossed at us, had an underlying teaching associated with them. An esoteric meaning. You could follow that line to learn something (frequently many somethings). I don't claim to have followed this line to its end. I think there is more to be found here. I think you could turn clothing into a study all on it's own if you wanted. Student
