JUMPING into the Moment
contributed
by Julie
It took me several years to muster the courage to go skydiving. I knew I had to do it, but my fear held me back from jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Eventually I got myself to the drop zone and my life has never been the same!
I thought the hardest part would be getting out of the airplane door, but my tandem instructor didn't give me much time to hesitate. Before I knew it I was somersaulting at 13,500 feet!
The freefall went incredibly fast! There is no sense of time or space. The furthest thing from my mind was fear as I savored the feeling of flying, tiny ice particles hitting my face and complete freedom.
We pulled the chute a short minute later and all of a sudden it seemed so quiet. We sailed above the Earth and enjoyed the awesome beauty of the view as the wind whistled around us.
Our landing was amazingly smooth; I simply stood up! And all that I could say was "Wow"! Words were useless coming from my mouth because the real me was still somewhere in the clouds around 13,000 feet.
My life has definitely changed. It is really liberating to know that I can accomplish something I never thought I could do. The only question to answer
-- "What's next?"
You gotta do it!
