Living an Exceptional Life

Rama taught us that all of the universe is the manifestation of energy also known as prana, kundalini, ki, and chi.
The quality of experiences in your life are largely determined by the amount of Kundalini that you resonate with. The pathway toward enlightenment requires a continual refining and "upgrading" of your practice.
Meditation (sitting quietly without thought) and Mindfulness are the two most fundamental ways to increase your available energy. Increased energy means improved self (or non-self) awareness, success, happiness, health, along with a few other cool applications. Mindfulness is the process of continually policing your thoughts against energy drains such as hateful thinking, self-loathing, etc. and replacing this negativity (we all have it) with tolerance, brightness, and humor.
Tolerance is important. Buddha said that while it is easy to hate a beginner, this creates a negative energy flow. Therefore, it is especially important not to judge yourself or even to judge your progress in the beginning stages of meditation. More on this in the Chief's books.
Like energy stored in the body and spirit, energy is stored in the land as well. I am sure this is old hat, but just in case. Different energies, different lands. Lower Manhattan (Wall Street) resonates with money. Midtown Manhattan sings the Fashion electric. The desert energies have their own brand as do coral reefs, ancient forests, the ocean, and mountains, etc. Some have more than others and some things that right for you and me might not be for others.
The ones that we Tantric Buddhists are drawn to are "Power Places" because of the rich, high grade kundalini that flows there.
Rama often would have us meditate and "move our minds" to the energies of different lands. He brought a few of his musical pupils to these places, and in extremely high meditations, composed music directly from these dimensions (hear Canyons of Light, Cayman Blue, Ecologie, and Enlightenment by Zazen).
